I'm Raluca Țincă and I've been creating for as long as I can remember.
I was born in Moldova, in Vaslui, over 35 years ago and I grew up among green hills, smelling of ripe grapes and smoke on the chimney during the cold autumn evenings. I keep in my mind and in my heart all the sensations, traditions, as well as the Moldovan speech.
Ever since I left home, I have been living in different cities and countries and for ten years I have settled in Brașov, a city with the smell of mountains and rain and full of multicolored houses that I have transformed into ceramic miniatures. I work with natural materials (clay, wool, colors) thinking of folklore and stories. More recently I work with words. I weave collections between them and I intertwine techniques, combining porcelain with wool and ceramics with children’s stories. And I hope that I will never stop exploring around and in the depths of the soul.
Raluca Țincă creates Little Houses, playful miniatures inspired by the picturesque architecture of Brașov. The project was born in 2014, a few years after the young artist settled in the fairytale city, and since then Romanians from all over the country as well as tourists from all over the world have fallen in love with the little houses. The artist begins by modeling the statuettes from white or red clay, which she then paints by hand with watercolors, acrylic colors or ink; some are burned in the oven, others are just lacquered and painted. Each little house from the collection is decorated with wonderful details that turn it into a unique piece, making it impossible for the artist to create two identical figurines.
