Dumitru Radu

Dumitru Radu

Critical References

Dumitru Radu makes a reference to geneses in a biblical sense and meditates with the means of his sculptor mind and senses on this vast and mysterious motif. Furthermore, his works also refer to a sort of genesis of his own creation. Bronze, in Dumitru Radu’s work is not used by accident, because for him it implies a fine moulding, this direct action of the hand over the material that can be shaped and which is strictly connected to the idea of genesis, of creating man from clay. (…) Dumitru Radu gives birth to a world that resembles a scale, and we, the people, are arranged on it like musical notes.

His creation has always featured this synaesthesia between the idea of music and the plastic image he can highlight in a special way and, starting from this idea, there is a primordial shape, a sort of pattern the artist constantly takes over, the sort of funnel leading us to think about the musical instrument, and also to the nothingness of which we are created, brought to life. It is a joy to behold that we can count among us artists who have mastered their craft and handle art, always seeking an intellection idea and process, two essential aspects that make art valuable and steadfast“ - Luiza Barcan, art critic.
